How do I get paid?

In our 1&1 internal program, affiliates get paid as a credit to the Debit Card, Credit card or PayPal account that was used when signing up with 1&1. If you are an affiliate in our Commission Junction program, CJ offers many ways to receive payment including check, direct deposit, etc.

When do I get paid?

Commissionable sales typically 'lock' at 60 days, after which you will receive the commission. If you are an in-house 1&1 affiliate, you can check to see your sales and if a commission has been paid by logging into your Control Panel. If you joined us in CJ, you will log into your affiliate CJ account to view the status of your sales and payments. Don't worry, we have so many products whose commission is over $80, that it should not take you too long to hit the minimum payout amount in the CJ network system.

Is there a minimum amount of sales I have to make in order to get commissions?

No, at this time there is not any minimum payout amount in order to get paid in our internal affiliate program.  If you just refer 1 domain name package customer, then within 6 - 10 weeks you will receive the $2.50 commission. 

However if you sign up with our external Commission Junction program, they do have a mimumim $50 threshold before they can pay you via direct deposit, or $100 if you want to use another payout method.

What's the fastest way to get my affiliate tracking link?

The fastest way to get your affiliate tracking link is to sign up in our external affiliate program in Commission Junction.  You could be promoting 1&1 within minutes. If you signed up with our internal program, as soon as you get your "welcome email" you can log into 1and1affiliate.com with your customer ID, then click on "Tools", then "Links".  Then you will see your affiliate tracking link. Alternatively you can also log into the 1&1 control panel using your customer ID and password. Once logged in click on "Account". Then you will see 'Affiliate Program". Click on "Links and Banners". Then you will see your affiliate tracking link.

How long is the cookie duration?

Our affiliate cookie lasts for 120 days. The longer the cookie, the higher chance you will earn more commissions.

How do I find out when I made a sale?

If you signed up through our in-house affiliate program you need to log-on your 1&1 Control Panel.  Once logged in click on "Affiliate Program" then click on "Statistics". Then you will be able to see all of the sales you have made - usually within 24 -48 hours after the referred account is setup.

Remember with our in-house program, we credit your credit/debit card or PayPal account that you have on file with us. Please note: It takes a minimum of 6 weeks after a new customer has ordered, and their account is activated for you to view the payment status in the statistics screen of your 1&1 Control Panel.

If you joined our affiliate program through Commission Junction, you simply log on to your account on CJ.com and then click on "Run Reports". Then you will see options to run a "Transaction Report" where you can see when you made a sale and received a commission.

How long does it take after signing up to start promoting 1&1?

After you signed up with our internal affiliate program, it normally takes 12-24 hours for you to receive your welcome email which will contain your customer/affiliate ID which you need to log on to 1and1affiliate.com so you can get access to your affiliate tracking link and other tools available to you.

If you want to promote 1&1 right away or want to refer a new customer as quickly as possible; we recommend you join our affiliate program in Commission Junction. Approval is much faster and you can begin to promote 1&1 right away.  You also still have access to all of the unique affiliate tools on 1and1affiliate.com. Does 1&1 have any Pay-Per-Click guidelines? Can I promote you in Adwords, etc?

Pay per click (PPC) ads can be a fast way to gain new referrals. We want you to do PPC, but the RIGHT WAY, without legal problems, and with smarter targeting and bidding practices. Unchecked PPC affiliates and poorly designed ads lead to higher costs in the PPC space and can negatively impact our Brand and cost you a lot of click money.  

NOTE: 1&1, oneandone, and 1and1 and trademark related keyword variations are currently "off-limits". General keyword or phrase advertising/targeting is permitted so long as your ad is not deceiving, negative and does not promote a special offer that has ended.

Some helpful details and tips for those approved for PPC advertising: 

1. You must target only U.S., and Canada - no exceptions. Our website is set up to only take orders from these countries. We have companies in several other countries. You must join the 1&1 affiliate programs in U.K., Germany, Spain or France if you wish to promote to citizens of these countries.

2. You may NOT make time-limited special offer ads without prior approval. Imagine if you were advertising an offer that had ended. This can cause consumer confusion or even legal issues if such an ad runs past the end date of the special. We notify our affiliates of any special offers which they are permitted to advertise and the expiration of these offers.

3. When referring to our website, use '1and1.com'- do NOT use 1&1.com or OneandOne. When referring to our company, use 1&1 or 1&1 Internet, or 1&1 Internet, Inc. Unsubstantiated claims/offers are not permitted. Claiming 'Official Site' in your PPC ad is also not allowed.

4. Bidding on 1&1, oneandone, or 1and1 trademarks, variants or copyrighted phrases is prohibited.

5. You may not advertise 1&1 using our hosting and domain competitors (we don't do it, and we don't want our affiliates to do this.) It can cause unnecessary bid wars, or even legal troubles. We do not need complaints about your ads - you do not need legal worries, bidding wars, etc...

Conversion Tips: Try to use the keyword or phrase in the title and description of your Text Ad. Google offers Dynamic Keyword insertion to help you do this. Make sure you land the visitor on the correct product page. In Google, make use of the 'negative keywords' to further target your audience. Typo keyword bidding is permitted if is not on variations of our trademark related keywords.

Do you offer recurring commissions?

We do not offer recurring commissions at this time. Both our internal and Commission Junction affiliate programs are straight one time commission only programs.

I'm a 1&1 customer, do I need to join the affiliate program to participate?

If you are a 1&1 customer, then you are already a 1&1 affiliate and you do not need to sign up again. You already have access to your affiliate tracking link.  Simply log on to the 1&1 control panel or log on this site (at the top of the page where it says 1&1 customer id in the green box) with your 1&1 customer ID, then click on 'Show Affiliate Tools' to get access to all of the great tools to promote 1&1.

If I sign up for the affiliate program and log in to the 1&1 Control Panel. what options do I have since I am now a 1&1 customer?

You have many options. You can purchase an Instant Domain or sign up for one of our many great hosting plans. Once you are in your control panel you have the option of upgrading your "1&1 Affiliate Membership" package to a paid package and get access to additional features that come standard with our hosting plans such as Free Marketing money (Google Adwords credit, MSN credit, Yahoo credit) and much more. You may use your free marketing money to promote your 1website so you can earn even higher commissions. Please note: upgrades which occur within the 1&1 Control Panel are not commissionable purchases.

Can I get technical support?

No.  The 1&1 affiliate program is a traditional affiliate program and not a multi tiered program.

How many affiliates does 1&1 have?

I or my referral forgot to use my link, do I get credit?

No. Sorry, but we only award commissions for valid purchases made through your affiliate tracking link. Proper usage of your affiliate tracking link is mandatory for our program.

Can I purchase 1&1 products using my own affiliate link?

Yes, you may. However, our affiliate program is really intended to help us gain new customers. So we do not permit, for example, for you to bulk order domains with your affiliate link. The program is not a "price loophole" for bulk domainers. Such activity is NOT in the spirit of this program and may cause problems for your payouts or membership. Occasional purchases are not likely to be of any concern, but gross abuses will catch our attention and cause problems.

The program is free, however in our internal affiliate program, during the sign up process we require either a debit card, credit card, or PayPal account so we can verify that we can pay you out commissions that you make with our program. There is a small $6.00 authorization made to the card, which is then immediately reversed. Your information is kept secure and confidential. If you do not want to provide your credit/debit card/PayPal account to us, you are free to join our affiliate program in Commission Junction.

What if I forget my account password?

You do not need your 1&1 affiliate password to log on the 1&1 Affiliate Portal but you do need it to log into the 1&1 Control Panel. If you forget your password simply go to the Control Panel login page and click on "Forget Password". How to integrate affiliates links in WebsiteCreator.

You have 2 ways of doing it.

3. Copy the link.

4. Open your WebsiteCreator's editor. Navigate to the page where you want to insert the link. Enter the text, for example "Great prices and reliable service at 1&1 Internet." Highlight it and click Edit and select Link.

5. Choose External. Paste the link you copied from the Affiliate Links & Banners and click OK.

   INSERTING THE LINK WITH A BANNER OR IMAGE

You have 2 ways of doing it.

3. Copy the link.

   

4. Launch DynamicSiteCreator and click Content. (Check FAQ: How to open the editor. )
   

5. Navigate to the page where you want to insert the link. Enter the text, for eg: "Great stuff at 1&1.....Sign up NOW!!!!". Highlight it and click the icon highlighted in green. 

6. A window pops up. Select External. Choose http:// and enter the affiliate link address. (Do not include http:// in the link you type.) Click OK.

Now when anybody clicks the link, they are redirected to the 1&1 website.

1. First download the banner image of your choice from the Control Panel. Then upload that image and insert it in your site by following FAQ: How to insert images.

2. Once you have successfully inserted the image, just select it and click the link icon highlighted in green.

3. A window pops up. Select External. Choose http:// and enter the affiliate link address. (Do not include http:// in the link you type.) Click OK.

Now when anybody clicks the image, they are redirected to the 1&1 website.

How to integrate affiliates links in WebsiteBuilder.

There are 2 options for adding an affiliate link to your WebsiteBuilder website:

1. Add a Link (without a banner)

   3. Copy the link.

   5. Go to Other Web Pages. Enter the affiliate link and click OK.

2. Add a Clickable Banner or Image

   1. You can use your own images. First upload the image of your choice by following the instructions in FAQ: How to insert images.

   2. After the image is inserted, highlight the image and click the link icon. Go to Other Web pages and enter your affiliate link. Click OK.

   3. Inserting the Link with HTML (Available for WebsiteBuilder Plus). Launch the WebsiteBuilder Plus editor.

   4. Copy the following HTML to your clipboard. Please replace the xxxxxxx with your customer/account number:

Add a line in your e-mail signature tag (or create one if you don’t have one yet) that expresses your relation with 1&1.

If you’d like us to review your signature or to do suggestions, please send us an e-mail at affiliates@1and1.com Your signature file should consist of just a few lines of text. 3-6 lines is usually sufficient. Try to keep the line length to 60 characters or less including spaces. Some e-mail programs can wrap text over 60 characters making the signature not as appealing to viewers. Always left justify your signature file. Most people use Microsoft Outlook, but most e-mail programs have a similar signature feature. Under the Tools menu, choose Options then Mail Format. At the bottom of the Mail Format menu, click the Signature button. When you click on the button, you are provided a text box to create your signature, then click on the New button, and you will be guided to creating your signature file. You can also import HTML into your signature file.
